Newbury Geological Study Group (NGSG) | How we are run
The Newbury Geological Study Group arranges trips to sites of Geological interest. Trips are normally day trips within 115 miles or roughly two hours driving time from Newbury. We also have weekend trips to sites which can not be visited in day. For most trips Dr. Les James of the University of Reading provides the geological expertise. Membership is open to all and it is not necessary to have any knowledge of the subject or to live in the Newbury area.
Membership is free. All we need is your name, email address and phone number, but you must accept our data protection policy. We charge £10.00 per person for most trips. This is collected on the day and goes towards running NGSG, including paying Dr. Les James (our Geological Consultant) to cover his time and expenses. Children are most welcome and there is no charge but they must be accompanied by an adult who will accept responsibility for them. To join email
and include the fact that you accept our data protection policy.
We aim to have 10 trips for our 2018/2019 season which runs from September 2018 to June 2019. The weekend trip for this year will be in March.
